The fruits of our labors and our leisure can be found aplenty at this weekend's Hood River Valley Harvest Fest.
Events in Hood River and around the middle and upper valley attest to the bounty of this place.
Anyone who has not yet decided on weekend plans need look no farther than the Expo Center, county fairgrounds, and the orchards.
The Chamber of Commerce has assembled an impressive line-up of local performers Friday through Sunday at the Expo Center. The acts range from middle school singers to traditional dancers and accomplished blue grass and rock and roll bands. In duos, family groups and larger ensembles, the Harvest Festival performers will be fitting accompaniments to the nearby fruit bins loaded with luscious Anjous and Newtons.
Meanwhile, at the fairgrounds on Saturday and Sunday, produce as well as food, art, and hand-made goods from the Mid-Columbia -- and that region only -- will fill the Fruit and Craft Fair.
Up in Parkdale, the grange hosts its annual harvest dinner both afternoons, and throughout the valley orchards and fruit stands will present the agricultural accomplishments of the year.
Harvest Fest, the county-wide cornucopia, is a feast worth partaking.
