Horizon hoops loses to Stevenson JV
The Horizon Christian basketball team began preseason play on Wednesday night with a 67-45 loss to the Stevenson High School JV team. After a slow start, the Hawks outscored the Bulldogs 20-2 in the second quarter for a 28-20 halftime lead. But Stevenson’s full-court press in the second half spelled the end for the Hawks. Senior Sheldon Diers led Horizon with 22 points, while sophomore Brian Stenberg chipped in 10. Freshman Jared Nagreen scored seven and senior point guard John Winters had six. The Hawks played at Riverdale Friday night (results not yet available) and host them again today at 4 p.m.
