Football banquet at HRV on Dec. 4
Reserve your spot today for the 2002 HRV football banquet, to be held Wednesday, Dec. 4, from 6-8 p.m. in the HRV cafeteria. Alumni basketball tourney Saturday
The annual alumni basketball tournament at Hood River Valley High School will take place this Saturday, beginning with registration at 8:30 a.m. and games beginning at 9:30 a.m. For $15, all former high-school students and interested community members can play in an all-day “pick-up” tournament to benefit the HRV softball program. HRV wrestling program seeks help
Coach Mark Brown is looking for another dedicated assistant to join his staff this season. The program is currently operating with just two assistants, Jeff MacKay and Jess Flem, and would like to bring in some additional knowledge and experience. For more, call Brown at 386-4500.
Community Education youth b-ball
Hood River Community Education is still taking registrations for youth basketball. Boys and girls in grades 3-6 are eligible and games will begin the first Saturday in January. Cost is $35 per player. Registration deadline is Dec. 3. For more information, call Community Ed at 386-2055.
Julee’s Gorge Tours at Trillium Lake
Julee’s Gorge Tours is organizing a Trillium Lake snowshoeing/cross-country skiing trip for Saturday, Dec. 7, beginning at 10:30 a.m. Cost is $45 per person, which includes brand-new Atlas and Rossignol gear, sack lunches, Clif Bars, and experienced guides. The group will meet at the Trillium Lake Snopark, and carpools can be arranged. Payment is required by Dec. 5. The trip is excellent for beginners, but also a great workout for experienced trekkers. Oregon Amateur Basketball tourneys
Oregon Amateur Basketball will be holding nine tournaments throughout the 2002-03 season in Portland, Salem, Bend, Eugene and Florence. Tournaments cost $185 and are open to boys and girls teams in grades 5-8. Each tournament also has a four-game guarantee. Central Oregon Shootout tourneys
Sisters Organization for Activities and Recreation (SOAR) is now taking registrations for the annual Central Oregon Shootout series. SOAR is in its ninth year of hosting youth tournaments, and caters mostly to boys and girls teams in fifth through eighth grades. The first tournament this season, the Kickoff Classic, will take place on Dec. 7, and will be followed by the Central Oregon Co-op on Dec. 14-15, and the Pepsi-Cola Shootout on Dec. 21.
