Darlene Roberts found herself in a familiar place after the Aug. 14-15 Indian Creek women’s Club Championship: On top.
With a two-round score of 182, Roberts won her 12th-ever Hood River club championship.
And by taking home her 12th first-place trophy, Roberts did something that no other Hood River women’s golfer ever has.
Despite the intense heat on Thursday and the 25-35 mile per hour winds on Friday, Roberts and two others shot in the 180s.
Also making a run at the title were Diana Mazeski, who took first place in Class A with a 185; and Jo Smith, who shot a 186 to claim second place in Class A. Clara Rice fired a two-round score of 197 to take third.
Meanwhile, in Class B, Barb Zeller earned first place with a 198. Second place went to Kathy Guthrie, and third went to Cynthia Brocklesby with a 207.
Roberts also had her way in the skills contests with the lowest total of putts (27) on Thursday. Smith had the fewest putts on Friday with 31.
Mazeski had the long drives for Class A on both days, while the Class B winners were Brocklesby and Zeller.
Smith posted the Class A closest to pin on Friday, but no one won on Thursday. Zeller was the KP in Class B on Thursday, while Lynn Garcia earned the KP honors Friday.
Day’s Play at Indian Creek will continue on Thursdays at 8:30 a.m.
