First Friday mixes art and music

The Hood River Downtown Business Association and GorgeArts in association with local artists, performers and businesses invite the community to enjoy First Friday in Hood River on Friday.

First Friday provides a showcase for artists working in diverse media and a variety of performers entertaining live throughout downtown from 5 to 8 p.m.

Highlights for the August event include Saturday Market on First Friday. Get a sneak peek of the Hood River Saturday Market vendors and musicians on Cascade Street, between 3rd and 4th Street.

Artists showing this month include Darryl Lloyd at Waucoma Bookstore, Kristin Olsen, Paul LeStock and Chris Gray at A Salon Day Spa Boutique, Jane Pagliarulo at Brian’s Pourhouse, Alan Van Metre at Van Metre’s Furniture, Kathy Watne at Kerrits, Janet Essley at Shred Threads, Kimberly Hovinghoff at the International Museum of Carousel Art, K&D Woodworking at Gorge Dog, David Ruiz and Maren McGowan at Hood River Bagel, Cheryl Hall, Cathleen Rehfeld and Kathryn Snyder at Doug’s Sports, Ken & Merrilee Ceramics at Pass-Times, Barbara Murphy at Franz Hardware and Christine Morlock Vogt at Yum Gallery. The Columbia Art Gallery presents Cool Paintings - Hot Glass, opening reception at 7 p.m.

Special events include Cascade Wellness Center’s Grand Opening with Bill Sturman and Pamela Wolter at 104 5th Street, Scott McGregon will be doing Kids balloon art at Windermere/Glenn Taylor Real Estate, wine tasting by Flerchinger Vineyards at Cascade Travel, Marianne Kaczynski book signing of Travelogue Coloring Book “A Birds Eye View of the Hood River Valley” at G. Williker’s Toy Shoppe, Gem Fair with Brent Wallace at Hood River Jewelers.

Music includes All Night Station at 6th Street Bistro and Mark Womble at the Hood River Hotel.
