Odell Little League meeting tonight
The Odell Little League will hold its monthly meeting on Wednesday from 6-7:30 p.m. at Mid Valley Elementary School. On the agenda will be scheduling and budgets. Call Chris Walker at 354-1678 with questions.
Saturday morning pick-up soccer game
Starting Saturday, Nov. 15, anyone interested in playing pick-up soccer is asked to turn out to Westside Field at 10 a.m. After the tremendous success of the adult co-ed league, interest in the sport is rapidly growing. Date change for youth V-ball tryouts
The newly introduced Wind River Volleyball Club has changed its tryout date for 15-18 year-olds to Sunday, Nov. 23 from 1:30-3:30 p.m. at Hood River Valley High School. Cost is $10 per player, and must be paid at tryouts. Tryouts for 10-12 and 13-14 year-olds have already taken place, and practices are already underway. Players from Stevenson, White Salmon, The Dalles and Hood River have shown great interest. Teams will travel to tournaments throughout the winter and spring, mostly in Portland. HRV alumni basketball tourney Nov. 29
The annual Hood River Valley High School alumni basketball tournament will be held Saturday, Nov. 29, beginning at 9 a.m. (Thanksgiving weekend). Cost is $15 per player and teams will be assigned. The tournament is open to all HRVHS alumni and interested community members. If you would like more information, call Phil Hukari at 386-4500.
High school runners meet after school
Any Hood River Valley High School runners interested in running with girls coach Kristen Uhler are invited to show up to room F-106 on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school. Uhler said she would welcome any students to run with the group. If you have questions, contact her at 386-4500.
Fifth grade girls preseason hoops
All local fifth-grade girls are invited to develop their basketball skills with coach Art Kunigel on Wednesdays and Fridays from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Hood River Middle School. Fundamentals and team skills will be the focus, and the program is designed to help kids prepare for the Community Education season this winter. Boys basketball players in grades 4-8 are encouraged to sign up for a skills development and conditioning camp Nov. 17-20. Led by Art Kunigel, the camp will last from 6-7:30 p.m. at Hood River Middle School. Cost is $30 per player. Call 386-2055 with questions.
Community Ed youth hoops sign-ups
Registrations are now being accepted for Hood River Community Education youth basketball. Deadline is Dec. 5, and the program is open to kids in grades 3-6. Players will be placed on teams according to their grade level, and separate leagues will be provided for 3rd/4th grade boys and girls, and 5th/6th grade boys and girls. Cost is $35 per player and games will be held on Saturdays starting in January. The practice schedule will be once per week. If you need more info, call 386-2055.
3-on-3 men’s hoops league sign-ups
The annual 3-on-3 men’s basketball league will be getting underway soon at Wy’east Middle School, and team sign-ups are now being accepted by Hood River Community Education. The recreational league is for men 21 and older, and cost is $50 per team (individuals also welcome to sign up). Play begins Tuesday, Jan. 13, and lasts until March 9. Games are played on half courts, and teams play two games per week. Call 386-2055 with questions.
