Alvin “Al” Bruce Chandler, a Parkdale, Ore., resident, died at home July 20, 2005. He was 73 years of age.
Services will be held on Sunday, July 24, at 1 p.m. at the Hood River Alliance Church.
Al was born May 24, 1932, in Niota, Tenn., to Thomas and Mary (King) Chandler. He was raised and educated in Tennessee and served in the U.S. Army. He resided in Pasadena, Calif., before coming to Oregon in 1983. He had worked as a truck driver most of his life.
Al was a member of the VFW, The American Legion, and the Elks and Lions clubs. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, gardening and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Edna Chandler, of Parkdale, Ore.; sons Lee Chandler of Pasadena, Calif., and Jay Chandler of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; Grant Hucker of Fort Lauderdale, Fla,; Jerry Dorzab of The Dalles, Ore., and Richard Dorzab of Kihei, Hawaii; daughters Juanita Chandler of Vancouver, Wash., and Susan Pederson of Sierra Madre, Calif.; Helen Irish of Junction City, Ore., and Sandie Fischer of Parkdale.
He is also survived by brothers Clay Chandler of Kokomo, Ind., and Ray Chandler of Chattanooga, Tenn., and two sisters, Sarah Pardon and Doris Bradford, both of Chattanooga, Tenn. Thirteen grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
His parents, three brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
Private interment will be at Idlewild Cemetery.
Frances Marie Berki Anglin, 81, of Buhl, Idaho, died Sunday, July 17, 2005, at Bridgeview Estates.
She was born March 25, 1924, in Portland, Ore., but was reared and educated in The Dalles, Ore.
She graduated from high school in 1942 and had been a Rainbow Girl. Frances worked as a secretary at the Chamber of Commerce in The Dalles for many years until her retirement.
She married William Berki in The Dalles, and he preceded her in death.
She later married Al Anglin in 1992 in Hood River, Ore. Together they traveled extensively around the U.S., and even lived on a boat in the San Diego area for a time.
In 1999 they moved to Buhl, Idaho, where she has since resided.
Frances played competitive bridge, and was a member of the Twin Falls Church of the Nazarene.
She is survived by her husband, Al Anglin of Buhl, and four children: Mike Berki of Houston, Texas, Steve (Pam) Berki of Omaha, Neb., John Berki of Portland, Ore., and Carolyn Oviatt of Pullman, Wash.; and by seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, and one brother.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 23, at the Twin Falls Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Jerry Kester, officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted 3 p.m., Thursday, July 28, at the IOOF Cemetery in The Dalles, with Pastor Dorothy Nielsen, officiating.
The family suggests memorials to Zion Lutheran Church, 101 W. 10th, The Dalles, for Lutheran Church Youth Christian Education.
Family and friends are all invited to a time of food and fellowship at Zion Lutheran Church, 101 W. 10th, The Dalles, immediately following the graveside service.
