A Hood River woman was raped on the evening of June 22 by a stranger who offered her a ride home.
According to reports, the victim had been walking home from a pub along West Cascade Avenue about 9:30 p.m.
She accepted a ride in a blue vehicle driven by a Caucasian male. However, he took an alternate route and then pulled over and attacked her.
The suspect is believed to be in his 50s and slightly balding. Police have declined to release further details on the assailant’s physical description at this time.
Detective Stan Baker said the victim is working with a forensic artist to come up with a composite sketch. That drawing of the suspect will be shown to the public in the near future.
“We are asking women to be extra vigilant while we do everything possible to solve this case,” he said.
Baker is asking that anyone with information that might help the case call 387-5251.
