Highway 35 between White River Sno-Park and Cooper Spur Road will close at noon Tuesday, Aug. 22 for up to 48 hours to allow for burn-out operations close to the highway and accommodate low-level air support in the continuing effort to control the Bluegrass fire on Mount Hood.
During times when the highway is open the following restrictions continue until further notice: Highway 35 is closed from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. The closure will allow the Forest Service to move equipment and personnel. Between 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. pilot cars and follow vehicles will control both directions of traffic. From 9 p.m. until 7 a.m. no vehicles will be allowed to stop or park at any trailheads between Cooper Spur Road and the junction of Forest Road 48.
During closure periods, motorists should use Interstate 84, U.S. Highway 26 or U.S. Highway 97 (commercial trucks should use 97) as alternate routes.
