PET OF THE WEEK: Ryder is ‘smart and eager to please’

This week volunteers at Adopt A Dog have selected Ryder as the program’s adoptable pet of the week. They describe him as follows:

“It’s Pit Bull Awareness Month, and Ryder, here, wants everyone to know what a great dog he is! Ryder is a gorgeous 1-year-old Pittie with eyes that mesmerize! He’s very athletic and strong and loves to play and go! And check out how well he does as a biker-buddy on his video at our website!

“Ryder is well-mannered, and he’s so smart and eager to please that no one is surprised how easily he learns new tricks. He’s learned to sit politely and wait calmly at an open door until given the OK to head on out, and he’s learned that he loves people and toys! He entertains himself with just about any toy, or rock, or stick and seems to have the best time ever.

“And after a fun game of fetch, or a nice jaunt with the bike, Ryder likes to find a cozy corner in the shade and chew on his favorite toy and enjoy the fresh air. Ryder gladly surrenders toys to you, is great on walks and gets along with other dogs, too.

“Oh, oh, oh — and he LOVES car rides! He calls “shot gun” all the time, but will surrender to the back seat when asked, and he’s very well-mannered in the car — just cruisin’ along.

Ryder would love to go to a home where he gets regular exercise and attention and more belly rubs than he can handle! He likes kids, too; but that Pittie tail of his can get going and not sure little ones will appreciate his enthusiasm!”

Ryder is current on shots, micro-chipped and neutered. The adoption fee for Ryder is $185; cash or check only, please. The adoption fee is charged to help recover standard average veterinary expenditures for each dog.

Please call ahead to meet Ryder at the Hukari Animal Shelter, 3910 Heron Drive, Odell; 541-354-1083. Adoption hours are Wednesdays from 5-7 p.m. and Saturdays from 9-11 a.m. Applications may be downloaded at www.hoodriveradoptadog.org and faxed to 877-833-7166.

The Adopt A Dog program offers 24PetWatch microchips, which include free registration into the 24PetWatch pet recovery service. (For more information visit www.24petwatch.com or call 866-597-2424.)
