Ron Rogers plays Dec. 14
Ron Rogers and the Wailing Wind are returning to the Double Mountain Brewery and Taproom on Saturday, Dec. 14, for a 9 p.m. show. “It’s been two years since Portland singer-songwriter-guitarist Ron Rogers and his musical sidekicks, the Wailing Wind, released their acclaimed “Country & Eastern” CD, but for fans of Rogers’ raw and edgy musical tales of the gritty side of life, the wait will be worth it. Cripple Hop plays Springhouse
Tuesdays at Springhouse Cellar continues with free, all-ages shows from local and regional bands. On Tuesday, Dec. 10, it’s bluegrass and folk from NW band Blackberry Bushes Stringband. ‘Best Pageant’ opens Dec. 12
Join Columbia Center for the Arts and CAST Theatre for the holiday madcap and mayhem of “Best Christmas Pageant Ever,” an uproarious story about a Christmas pageant gone awry. Gorge Winds concert Dec. 15
The Gorge Winds concert band will play its 14th annual Christmas concert at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 15, at The Dalles Civic Auditorium. Always popular, the 40-piece band, conducted by Larry Loop and Nathan Parker, will play all your favorite carols and Christmas music. You’ll hear two pieces by Leroy Anderson: “Sleighride,” and “A Christmas Festival,” and other pieces new to the Gorge Winds. This week at The Pines it’s Kerry Williams with guitar and mandolin tunes. High-energy or sweet and slow, Kerry’s virtuosity guarantees a great music evening. ‘Sweet and Sad’ returns
“Sweet and Sad,” a staged reading by CAST, returns Dec. 13-14, 7:30 p.m., at The Dalles Civic Auditorium. Tickets are $10 at the door. Richard Nelson’s story is filled with both humor and sorrow; a family gathers for lunch upon the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 tragedy, and confronts the difficulties of loss and the ways to cross chasms of broken and painful memory.
