The Hood River Valley Eagles sends 20 swimmers to state this year and is looking to bring home some hardware.
Follow along below for updates on all of the action on Day 1 of the 5A state swimming championships and find out who moves on the finals.

The HRV teams are coming off dual district titles. For the first time in his high school swimming career, HRV boys swimmer Connor Webb will have some company at the state meet. For the last three years Webb has been the sole male representative for the Eagles at state. This year he will be joined by nine compatriots.
The Eagle girls team after, repeating as district champs, has their sights set on improving on last year's sixth place team finish. Numerous swimmers return from last year's team.
4:35: That will do it for day one from the state swimming championships. Check back in tomorrow for coverage of how things go for the two girls relay teams and Connor Webb in his two individual events. We'll have coverage starting again at around 1:30 p.m.
4:18: The Eagles wrap day one by sending another relay to state and seeing
Connor Webb qualify in his second individual event. The Eagle girls 400 free relay team qualifies sixth for tomorrow's finals with a time of 3:53.36. Webb qualifies easily in the 200 Breaststroke with a time of 59.33. He'll have a tough time improving on his qualification placing in the finals, as the first qualifier, Tommy Brewer of Summit, anhilated the 5A meet record with a time of 57.54. The previous record was 59.09 set by Cameron Lindsey of North Eugene at last year's meet.
2:35: We're at a 15 minute break in the action and the Eagles have some qualifiers for Saturday's final. The HRV girls 200 medley relay team qualifies fourth out of six teams for the finals tomorrow with a time of 1:57.03. The Eagle boys 200 medley team sneaks into the finals as well, taking the sixth and final spot by half a second with a time of 1:47.01.
Individually, Connor Webb qualifies second in the 200 IM with a time of 1:57.29.
1:30 p.m.: Greetings from the campus of Mt. Hood Community College. The 5A meet will be getting underway here in about 15 minutes with the 200 medley relay. Both the HRV boys and girls are scheduled to take part. The Eagle girls are slated to swim Danielle Miller, Kylie Webb, Dhani Feeland and Rebekah Galvez. The Eagle boys will send David Walker, Connor Webb, Charlie Sutherland and Diego Ybarra.
Following that will be the 200 freestyle with Dhanie Freeland going for the HRV girsl, the 200 IM with Kylie Webb for the HRV girls and Connor Webb for the Eagle boys.
Then will come the 50 freestyle with Kayla Schilling swimming for the Eagle girls.
