Coffee Clatter meets at Idlewild
Hood River Chamber of Commerce’s networking event Coffee Clatter meets Jan. 10 from 8-9 a.m. at Idlewild Market, which co-hosts with Drifty’s Coffee Shop.
Idlewild Market is located at 101 Fourth St. in downtown Hood River.
Coffee Clatter is open to anyone who wants to learn what local businesses and organizations are up to.
Anyone who wishes to speak is given a chance to briefly describe a business or program.
AniChe winemaker wins awards
Rachael Horn of AniChe Cellars in Underwood, Wash., the only female head winemaker in the Columbia Gorge, has received awards for both her first and second commercial vintage at the International Women’s Wine Competition last year.
The event is judged entirely by leading women in the wine industry, and recognizes not only the best wines submitted, but also the wines they most feel would appeal to women wine buyers and consumers. Wines were judged from a field of over 860 entries from around the world.
AniChe Cellars received the following awards in the 2012 competition:

Gorge Soup event seeks presenters
The next Gorge Soup will be Feb. 5, and diners and presenters are welcome to sign up.

The deadline to apply to compete for the prize money is Jan. 25. This is an extension from the previous deadline.

Gorge Soup is a dinner event where people buy tickets, come to dinner and eat soup with other Gorge community members. While they eat, they listen to presentations by people who are starting a new business, creating a new nonprofit or developing a new community solution.
At the end of the dinner, everyone votes for their favorite idea. The winner gets the ticket money to use to make his or her idea a reality.
Chamber announces ‘Getaways’
Hood River Chamber of Commerce has introduced this year’s “Winter in Hood River Like a Local” campaign and a Hood River Winter Getaway Contest, with three getaway prize packages being given away over the months of January, February and March.
Each prize includes an activity shared with a local pro or expert, including photography, stand-up paddling, a brewmaster’s dinner and more.
