Hood River’s first “Task Party” happens on July 5.
The all-ages event calls for “creative innovation and improvisation” as participants choose a “task” ranging from making masks to organizing a lesson. Tools and supplies are provided.
It’s about connecting, not competing, and whimsy and imagination are the means.
“We just want people to come and enjoy the experience,” said organizer Shelley Toon Hight of Columbia Gorge Arts in Education.
The event is from 5:30 to 10 p.m. in the loft above Taco del Mar, on Oak Street.
Suggested donation is $5 per person, $20 per family.
Hight said she has enjoyed two task parties, which were started about 10 years ago in Brooklyn by artist Oliver Herring.
