Doug Thiesies, forester for Hood River County, will speak at the next Hood River Watershed Group meeting, Tuesday, at 7 p.m. at the OSU Extension Service meeting room at 2990 Experiment Station Road in Hood River.
The county owns almost 31,000 acres of forestland within the county and an additional 18,000 acres in Grant and Umatilla Counties. Thiesies will talk about how they manage their forestlands to ensure a predictable revenue source for the County, while at the same time protecting wildlife, water quality and recreational opportunities.
Other topics on the agenda include a proposed Powerdale Trail Planning grant to be submitted by Columbia Land Trust and a request for support by the Network of Oregon Watershed Councils.
