In my last correspondence I welcomed new neighbors; this week I need to mention the passing of a longtime neighbor, Betty Hudson. Betty had fought her illness many years and passed on April 1.
Betty Hudson was born Nov. 17, 1930, and lived in Hood River most of her life. Betty worked in many of the local area jobs and schools. Her lifetime friend of 67 years, Betty DeHart, will miss Betty always because she was in Betty and Emmett’s wedding and had been neighbors and friends ever since. Condolences to the family; and Betty’s death was preceded by the death of her son Dick Hudson several months prior.
Dollie Rasmussen wants to thank everyone who came by and helped in everything from set-up to take-down for the Pine Grove Church open house and bake sale on Saturday, April 19. The bake sales did very well and many people viewed the church and looked through the photo albums and history of the church.
On Friday, April 18, Dollie and Lynn were working at the church a tour bus stopped and asked if they could see the church. The bus was the Sandy Senior Center out of Sandy, Ore., and they were on a sightseeing trip of Hood River.
The 14 people on the bus had been wanting to see the church prior, and so off the bus they went, and soon Lynn heard music in the sanctuary and one member was playing the piano and all 14 were singing “Jesus Loves Me.”
It was a special moment and many were touched with joy that day and one visitor in particular said he had not sung that song for many years. Who doesn’t remember singing “Jesus Loves Me” growing up?
