Defending champion Bruce Ludwig will face nine other community members in the 2014 SMART Tongue Twister Tournament, Feb. 28, at a new location, Columbia Center for the Arts.
Other competitors include Ron Chamness, Sandra Evans, Julie Jindal, Char Mayer, Maui Meyer, Gregory Smith, Amalia Shaner, and, newly added, HRVHS junior Noah Tauscher.
The night of comic word play and music is a benefit for the Hood River County Start Making A Reader Today program.
The event starts at 7 p.m.; doors open at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $5 for all ages. Beer and wine will be available for purchase. Music will be by The Unrelated Mayers:
Jindal will also perform a brief excerpt from “A Voice of My Own,” the next CAST production (running March 14-15). The staged reading is directed by Desiree Amyx-Mackintosh.
SMART is a nonprofit organization providing literacy help to children in grades K-3 and, new this year, to Head Start preschoolers. SMART operates in the schools but all funding from the program comes from private donations.
