Indian Creek hosts two good-cause golf tournaments
Indian Creek Golf Course plays host to two golf tournaments – one Aug. 16 and the other Sept. 27 – that serve as fundraisers for local sports. On Aug. 16 is the first Battling Bob Hanel Memorial Tournament, held in honor of the late Bob Hanel as a fundrasier for Hood River Valley High School golf teams. Sept. 27 is the 8th annual HRV Hall of Fame Golf Tournament, held in honor of the latest inductees to the HRVHS athletic Hall of Fame as a fundrasier for the HRV athletic department.
To form or join a team for either event, contact the course pro shop (541-386-7770).
Fire danger closes private lands and trails
Due to increased fire danger, several recreation trails located on private/corporate forest land have been closed until further notice. This includes all trails on lands owned by SDS Lumber, Broughton Land, Stevenson Land, Kreps Ranch, Wayerhauser, Hancock Forest Management and American Forest Management. This list encompasses a large number of hiking and biking trails located in the Gorge – essentially everything that is not owned by federal, state or county agencies – and include the popular trails on Hospital Hill, Underwood Mountain and Whoopie.
