Rachel Harvey holds open studio
Artist Rachel Harvey holds her annual open studio on Friday, May 16-18, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at 5414 KLM Drive, Mt. Hood.
Harvey highlights time and place in her contemplative, contemporary landscapes. Her paintings describe the refuge found in the natural world’s beauty.
She will also be among the 22 artists featured this summer in “Art of the Wild” at Columbia Center for the Arts.
‘Eclectic’ bicycle photo exhibit
Thunder Island Brewing hosts Adventure Cycling’s traveling Bicycle Eclectic Portrait Exhibit, through June 30 in the tasting room in Cascade Locks.
Bicycle Eclectic features a selection of black-and-white portraits of long-distance cyclists, on display through the end of June at Thunder Island Brewing Co at 515 N.W. Portage Road. (Enter Marine Park, and take a left just after the train trestle, go all the way to west end of the road.)
In 1982, Adventure Cycling co-founder Greg Siple began recording the parade of cycle-tourists dropping by the Adventure Cycling office in Missoula, Mont., creating the National Bicycle Touring Portrait Collection. The Bicycle Eclectic Exhibit showcases some of the most interesting portraits from the three-decade-old collection.
Poster contest deadline is May 15
May 15 is the deadline for entries in the White Salmon Art & Wine Fusion poster contest.
The artwork needs to fit a portrait format approximately 11-by-16 inches. It should be suitable for use in other advertising and print and social media marketing; hence, simple, bold designs are preferred. Examples of past posters may be viewed at ArtWineFusion.com or WhiteSalmonArts.org. The winning selection becomes the property of the White Salmon Arts Council. All other entries will be returned.
Send properly scaled digital copies via email to ArtWineFusion@gmail.com, or original physical artwork may be submitted at Postal Connections, 176 E. Jewett Blvd., White Salmon, WA 98672, or mailed to White Salmon Arts Council, P.O. Box 2221, White Salmon, WA 98672. Be sure to include your name, address, phone and email information.
Festival name, date, and other related details will be added bordering the artwork, so it doesn’t need to be included in the artwork itself.
