Here are community events honoring men and women who served the United States in the military, and their families.
Nov. 8 — Veterans Day service at Tucker Road Baptist
Tucker Road Baptist Church, 1455 Tucker Rd., will be honoring those who have served and those who are now serving this country in each branch of the military — Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, and the Coast Guard — with a Veterans Day Celebration Service on Nov. 8 at 11 a.m.
Veterans, family members, friends, and anyone who would like to celebrate are welcome to attend.
Nov. 11 — Elks Breakfast
Elks Lodge 1507, American Legion Post 22 and Safeway will serve a free breakfast to all veterans from 7-10 a.m. at the Elks, 304 Cascade Avenue.
Nov. 11 — Veterans Day community celebration ceremony at Anderson’s
Anderson’s Tribute Center, 1401 Belmont, will hold the annual Veterans Day Community Celebration Ceremony beginning at 11 a.m. The ceremony will include patriotic music, a guest speaker from American Legion Post 22, Cub Scout and Boy Scout troops 378, Scoutmaster Nick Kirby’s tribute to veterans, and a reception hosted by the Daughters of the American Revolution, Celilo Chapter. All are welcome to attend.
Nov. 11 – Maryhill Museum welcomes veterans
On Tuesday, Nov. 11, Maryhill Museum salutes veterans and active military by offering free admission to both groups every Veterans day.
Maryhill Museum will extend free admission to all firefighters and their families the weekend of Nov. 14-15.

Nov. 11 closures
All Hood River County Library branches will be closed in honor of Veterans Day.
Hood River County School District will be closed.
Most banks will be closed, as will all government offices.
Hood River Garbage and Recycling will be open and running on schedule.
Hood River Aquatic Center will be open during regular business hours.
Hood River News offices will be open.
