The 2016-2017 fall Hood River Valley High School cheerleaders came home with several awards from a Universal Cheerleaders Association camp last week at the University of Portland. The varsity squad earned third place in the Game Day competition while the JV squad’s awards included first place Camp Champion and Most Improved squad. Both squads received trophies for earning Superior place evaluations all week for their performances. Pictured above are members of the varsity and JV squads and coaches LisaAnn Kawachi and Kristen Kawachi. Inset: Four cheerleaders also earned All American honors while at the UCA camp. From left to right are JV cheerleader Sonja Joplin-Clay, varsity cheerleaders Rosie Dillon and Brooklyn Holman and JV cheerleader Morgan Webster. Dillon and Holman have been invited to cheer with other All Americans in London early next year while Joplin-Clay and Webster are invited for the same honors in Houston, Texas.
