Power outages in west Bingen

A fire broke out at the Kayak Shed in downtown Hood River Wednesday evening.
The Hood River County Sheriff's Office is downgrading evacuation levels for the valley. Note that the west end of the county, including Cascade Locks, remains under a Level One (Get Ready) notice.

After careful consideration by fire incident commanders and the Hood River County Sheriff's Office, the following changes are being made to Evacuation Levels:

Crystal Springs Water District has issued a boil water order for its public water system.
The city of Cascade Locks is under evacuation orders due to the growth of the Eagle Creek Fire to about 3,000 acres overnight. This is a new fire, separate from Indian Creek Fire to the south.
Reports: those stranded will likely stay in forest overnight
A second wildfire along Eagle Creek Trail has trapped a group of about 150 hikers Saturday. Rescue efforts for that group and an unconfirmed number of other trail users are underway.
Holly Lester, a 27-year-old woman from Seattle, had been missing since March 15.
A 20-year-old man suspected of shoplifting Walmart fell to his death near Westcliff Drive while trying to evade police.
