After snapping a seven-game losing streak that dated back to Dec. 14, the HRV boys basketball team were unable to keep things rolling as they dropped their last non-league game earlier this week by a final score of 55-64 on the road at Liberty.
Last weekend, The HRV girls wrestling team took down Thurston, Century, and Hillsboro at the Oregon Classic Dual Meet Championships in Redmond to win the first place trophy, and they took that momentum into their dual meet matchup with Hermiston on Jan. 17.
It had been 13 days since the HRV girls basketball team’s last game — last week their contest against Corbett on the road was cancelled because of the opposing team not having enough players to suit up — but the girls were finally back in action on Jan. 16.
The Horizon boys basketball team continued its early dominance against league opponents Tuesday night, beating South Wasco County at home by a final score of 51-28.
The Hood River Valley swim team traveled to Madras last weekend for the Madras High White Buffalo Classic.
After a dominant 45-7 win over Mitchell/Spray last weekend, the Horizon girls basketball team welcomed South Wasco County to the Hawks Nest on Tuesday night.
Two-days before the HRV boys basketball team would’ve been without a win for a whole month, they finally are able to put an end to the seven game losing streak as they won at home on Friday, Jan. 12 by a final score of 66-44 versus Corbett.
Before the HRV wrestling team traveled to Redmond for the Oregon Classic on Friday, Jan. 12 and Saturday, Jan. 13, the boys had a meet on the road versus Mountain View for the Grapple for the Griffin trophy on Thursday, Jan. 11.
After opening league play with a loss on the road, the Horizon boys basketball team have now won three-straight league games and are now 3-1 in 1A-6 Big Sky League play.
Sports briefs for Jan. 17
After last weekend’s 10th place finish at the Kelso Tournament, where 84 schools competed, the HRV girls wrestling team was back in action on Jan. 10 as they traveled to Forest Grove for a team dual meet.
The Hood River Valley ski team opened its 2018 ski race season on Saturday, Jan. 6 in the Kelsey Hewitt Memorial ski race held at Mt. Hood Meadows.
This past weekend competition was back underway as the Hood River Valley Swim Team traveled to Mt. Hood Community College to compete in the Seth Dawson swim meet.
The Horizon girls basketball team closed out non-league play on the road against Klickitat/Glenwood and won by a final score of 53-44.
Horizon Hawks boys basketball opened 1A-6 Big Sky League competition on the road against Arlington on Jan. 5.
