April 23, 1927 - February 5, 2009
Curtis Paul “Curt” Crown, a Hood River, Ore., resident, passed away at the Oregon Veterans Home in The Dalles on Feb. 5, 2009.
Services with military honors will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, at Anderson’s Tribute Center. A reception will follow.
Curt was born April 23, 1927, and moved to Hood River at the age of 14 and worked to help support his family. At 18, Curt joined the army and following his service returned home to Hood River. He worked various jobs until finding a longtime career of 43 years in the fruit-growing industry.
Curt was a true member of his community. He was a volunteer fireman and a member of the Elks and the American Legion.
At 19, Curt met his love, Frances Cody, and married in 1948. They had two beautiful boys, Howard and Michael.
After retiring in 1989 Curt took up the game of golf. He spent many hours and days on the golf course with his family and friends. When he wasn’t here in Hood River playing golf, he and Frances would travel to Reno and Arizona to spend time with their boys and grandchildren.
Curt’s greatest love in life was his family. He always worked fixing up their homes and took great pride in his grandchildren and teaching them to bike ride, sledding and all the fun good things in life.
Curt had a great sense of humor and enjoyed teasing every chance he had. All his family and especially his grandchildren tremendously loved Grandpa Curt.
In addition to his friends Curt is survived by his wife, Frances Crown; children, Howard and Michael; sister, Lois Clarke; brother, Loyd Crown; and many special grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers: Seraphine, Bert, John, Bobby and Andy.
