Boyd Dean Dowers

Boyd Dean Dowers, of The Dalles, Ore., died of Parkinson's disease Dec. 6, 2011, in Irrigon, Ore. He was born Oct. 4, 1926, in Boyd, Okla., to Harvey Stanton Dowers and Myza Wallace Dowers.
He moved from Woodlake, Calif., to the Columbia Gorge area circa 1950, working his way through the lumber industry; such as SD&S in Bingen, Hanel Lumber in Hood River, as well as timber felling with The Blouin family in Hood River. He later worked at Safeway in Hood River and The Dalles, where he retired in about 1995.
Boyd enjoyed socializing with friends and relatives and working on projects and gardening around the home. He was a lifetime member of Jehovah's Witnesses, attending the Kingdom Halls of Hood River and The Dalles.
Survivors include his wife, Kathryn Dowers, of The Dalles; sons Donald Dowers and Mark Dowers, both of The Dalles, and Randall Dowers, of Irrigon; and daughter Kelly Dowers Walker, of Bend, Ore.; four grandchildren: Amanda Galbraith and Bryan Dowers, both of The Dalles, Bradyn Dowers, of Irrigon, and Aurora Dowers, of Hood River; sister Velva Lust, of Bakersfield, Calif.
Preceding him in death are brothers Burley Dowers of Modesto, Calif., Lloyd Dowers, of San Jose, Calif., and Virgil Dowers, of Edmond, Okla.
