Donald Lee Evans

The family of Donald Lee Evans wishes to extend an invitation to all who would like to honor and remember Don at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, at Anderson’s tribute center for a time to mourn his passing and celebrate his life.
Don was born April 3, 1929, at The Dalles, Ore., to Darrell and Lillie (Hood) Evans, whose great-grandparents homesteaded in Mosier in 1887.
Don was called home to the Lord on Sept. 2, 2012, with his wife, Bernie, by his side. He passed away in Gresham, Ore.
Don was a fourth-generation orchardist in Mosier as well as a nursery man and an accomplished pilot. During his life Don positively impacted many people as a loyal friend to his community.
He was a longstanding member of his church, volunteer firefighter in Mosier, a member of the Lions Club and the Elks Lodge. He was very involved in fundraising for the Mosier community and was a longtime member of the Mosier Cherry Growers Association.
He is survived and will be dearly missed by his wife, Bernie Evans; sister, Gloria Kennedy and her family; his children, Gilbert Evans and Bonita Cook; his uncle, Arlyn Evans, with whom he grew up with as a boy; cousin/brother Gene McBee; best friend/brother Dr. David Mason; grandchildren Megan, Phillip, Kurt and Lynden; stepchildren, Donald and Sandra; four step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and other distant family and many, many friends that he has collected over the years.
