GorgeGoddess 3 months ago on Cascade Locks Port votes against water measure

The paper does not know about the part where Port Commissioner David Lipps asked who wrote it. When JoeInne Caldwell tenatively replied, "The Lawyers, right?" while looking at Jesse, (who was ignoring the answer muttered by the wise ass in the meeting who said Bernard Seeger.)

He sputtered at first then stated, "It doesn't matter who wrote it, it matters how we vote on it."

Isn't that reassuring, folks, that a Commissioner of the Port of Cascade Locks would read a resolution into the record, without knowing who wrote it? And that the President does not think it's important who wrote it?

Also not mentioned is when one of the three citizens who attended asked if President Jess Groves would recuse himself on the basis of previously receiving money from Nestle, he answered. No, and then suggested if she wanted to talk about, it would be outside, after the meeting, one on one.

The second citizen asked if any public/citizen input was going to be allowed and was told, "No."

GorgeGoddess 3 months, 2 weeks ago on Water in Cascade Locks: Move the meeting, please

1) The problem with moving the venue down to the gym floor is the lack of recording equipment. Many community members sit at home and watch the City and Port proceedings on Channel 23 rather than coming and participating.

2) Whatever recording is made is not available for later viewing for any other parts of Hood River County. Cascade Locks does not place these recordings on line as so many other cities and towns do.

3) While expanding the Council Chambers is a fantastic idea, I'm pretty sure that the wall into the current library space is load bearing and probably tied into the facade that it beginning to fall off of City Hall (check out the bathroom downstairs for the large crack in the floor.) Also, this will do nothing to improve what desperately needs to be improved, handicapped access.

I see Martha La Mont has forgotten the 6 months work I did to assist in transferring and setting up the food bank with FISH. Well, until she edged me out.

The Hood River News missed City Councillor Rich Randall and Port Commissioner JoeInne Caldwell, who were also present, along with Bernard Seegar, past City Administrator - all who were silent.

Mr. Zimmerman's humor was inappropriate and his answers not forthcoming. I find it amazing that the process has gone on for this long without important questions about truck routes, selling price of the water and the effects on our current tourism being answered.

Mr. Dean is wrong. This issue affects more than just Cascade Locks. Like it or not, the hard truth is that this water exists within the boundaries of Hood River County, flows into the waters of the Gorge and the rights currently belong to all of Oregon.

Poor birdies.

Dear Hood River City Council:

Please keep on treating Ryan's juice this badly. Keep on punishing a local, small company trying to stay in business for whatever reason you hate Bob Francis. Go ahead and encourage them to fail. Whine about a transaction fee that every bank charges every customer the same percentage for, no matter what large payment you just got, because although it reduced his debt by it obviously didn't reduce your incoherent rage. We'll welcome his business in Cascade Locks.
